An act of selflessness; is there anymore in singapore?
I was very proud of Irwan today. He helped a person in need. Someone was walking along a pathway beside the road nearby Red Swastika at 5.35pm and suddenly fell to the ground; motionless. Both of us were deeply shocked to see it. However, Irwan was prompt to assist the lady. He helped carry her to the nearest seat under the void deck. There was also another kind passer-by that helped. The lady had a frail body, very tall and extremely skinny. The other passer-by just helped by looking at the lady on the ground. There were other people that passed by her with ignorance. Perhaps with her built and appearance, she might have been mistaken as a user of narcotics.
What happened to courteous and helpful Singaporeans? What would you expect from others if you're on the ground in place of the lady? Wouldn't you have expected help from passer-by? What if you had vomit all over you or looked extremely sick and you fell to the ground? Wouldn't you be aware of how people look at you? How would that lady feel with all of you observing her with stares? Wouldn't it have made her condition worse?
Bottom line, subjecting to human stereotyping is not an option. Humans. That's what we do. Not to mention those import beings from the other side of the world that came here. Would they have extended their hand to help as much as they expect anyone to help them when they need it? In conclusion, humans are selfish and are always out for themselves. They tend to forget that there are other people that had helped them before and refuse to extend help. What is happening to the world?
In addition, I feel that the annual light-up of the Festival lights is a waste of time and money. The money used to come up with the manpower; the time to put the lights up; the energy consumption of the lights for over 30 days; all of this could be channeled our to help those in need. Like I said, we are selfish. To only want things to look good but ignore what matters; People.
i appreciate what you did @ 5:43 PM
